If it is an old stove, get the rebuild kit and replace the valves, so it is 
all new and functioning properly. Otherwise,if you think the stove is too old 
to warrant spending any mony on it, then it is too old to be trusted, and get 
rid of it.  Fire on a boat, or in your garage, or basement, is not a pretty 
sight.
