[alberg30] Chain plate info

Joe, having just completed this project this spring, I recommend taking the
chain plate to your local machine shop or friend and having the 5/16 holes
drilled on a drill press.  Has for drilling through the fiberglass, I did it
with an electric drill.  Has I recall, it took a little pressure and some of
the angles were not the most comfortable.  You might also want to consider
larger washers or have a backing plate made when you re-install. My little
boatyard recommended fabricating an upside down L-shaped backing plate. I
thought it was overkill and went with the larger washers.

As the re-fit list slowly gets smaller I came to replacing the
chainplate bolts last weekend.

One question- how do you drill those chainplate holes?? I burned up my
very loyal Black and Decker power drill. And I am eating up drill
bits--including my titanium set. My portable drill works well because of
the lower rpms, but it dries up the Versa-pak batteries faster than you
think. Is this a project for the machine shop and somebody's drill
press?
