T K   you can do this.  Pearson Commanders an Ariels had an outboard well.
You could build one.  It must be strong.  Unless you also build a plug to fit 
there,
 you may have critters that get up there.  You will need at least a 10 hp  
long shaft.
Also you will need to make a larger hatch on the Lazarette so you can work in 
there, and get a 6 gal tank in beside the engine.  Lots of weight back there 
which is in the wrong place.
