This has worked flawlessly for me for many years.

A few inches of woven fiberglass air-tight stove door sealer. Lay this in
the primer cup to keep the alcohol from splashing.

A cat food tin with both ends cut off and a slot cut for the burner control.
Place this around the burner.

A hypodermic needle with the end blunted (10 cc?) which is the perfect
amount to heat the burner properly.

I have a Kenyon with the Force 10 kerosene conversion, but the above should
work fine for the alcohol burner also, although why anyone would want to
stay with alcolhol, I don't know.
