[Alberg30] Electronic Ignition

Questions
1) I have an Atomic 4 which is running very well (touch wood). Last 
year the mechanic who winterized it suggested installing electronic 
ignition. He will probably do the same this year. 
Anyone any views and please bear in mind I am totally ignorant 
about engines? Since buying the boat a year ago I have opened 
neither the carburrettor nor the points. Further we use the engine  
just to go in and out of the harbour and so far this season we have 
not used a tank of gas.
2) I have wooden spreaders and need to replace with metal ones. 
Any model favoured?
