a lizzard is a fairlead thing-a-ma-bob.  Mine are made of a lignum vitea
ring with a 1/2" hole, sanded smooth and boiled in liseed oil.  Then I made
a ring splice large enough to go aroung the ring and have a 9" 'tail'.  I
simply attach this to a hank.  I use this because it doesn't chafe the sail
and it was cheap to make compared to a $10 block with sharp edges.
