Cute story so I'll have to try and better it. Now this is a true story I
heard when sailing my old Columbia 29 in the S. pacific.

A guy tore his headsail so he rplaced it with his spare and started sewing
the tear. Not having 3 hands he temporarily put the needle in his mouth
while working. Just then a nice swell rolled the boat and he swollowed the
needle however he could feel it lodged part way down his throat. Darn that
was irritating but being a clever sailor he had the great idea to tie a
string on to a small magnet to also swallow and grab the needle and pull it
our. All went well until he started to pull the magnet out and the string
broke. Now the whole works was stuck in there so he set a direct course for
Australia to get medical attention. As he sailed the weather got colder and
colder until he finally realized that every time he read the compass it read
the wrong direction when he got close to it so he was headed for the S.
Pole.

Remember, don't ever hold a needle in your mouth.
