[Alberg30] Mast Beam Repair

The mast support beam in Marion Rose III, #233 if finally beginning to
sag and I am getting ready to do the repair.  Someone submitted a
beautiful set of photographs about this repair which I saved, a while
ago but I didn't record who sent them.  Does anyone remember.  I have a
few questions for anyone who would care to answer.

1.  How do you determine how much to jack up the beam?

2.  Will the floor beneath the beam support the jack or does this need
to be reinforced?

3.  I assume that one of the plates is to be predrilled, the two plates
clamped in place and then the beam and the second plate is drilled in
place using the predrilled plate as a guide.  Is this correct?

4.  How is the hole placement determined?

5.  Does anyone have a suggestion of how best to construct a pattern for
the aluminum beam?  I have a machinist acquaintance who will cut them
for me?

6.  Any other suggestions which may help.
