[Alberg30] Securing Anchor Chain

Bill... The (an?) origin of the term "weak link" is from Navy use. The
bitter end of the anchor chain is shackled to a pad eye in the chain
locker, but one or two links from the end, the chain has a specially
designed weak link which will break under only moderate force. Securing
the bitter end is fine to prevent an accidental loss of an anchor overboard
by paying out too much scope. But the rationale for a weak link is that
you'd rather lose the anchor in case of a free fall than tear a hole in the
bottom of the ship.

So, using that rationale, I'd screw in a small eyebolt anywhere and secure
the anchor rode to it with a short jumper of small stuff or maybe 20# test
fish line. (on the other hand, I don't secure my rope rode at all.)

Cheers,
Bob Kirk
