[Alberg30] Keels

The iron was a casting done off site - lead was not used for economic
reasons - the A-37's all have cast lead internal keels - they also cost
proportionately more because of it. Part of the reason for the use of iron
likely involved the tough negotiating stance taken early on by the
Associations for low price group purchases and the subsequent insistence on
keeping the boats one design. This is not a slight, just an observance of
economic reality. Remember Hansen was one of the few builders to actually
retire wealthy.

They never used punchings or nails or ball bearings or whatever in the
keel - nor will you find Jimmy Hoffa there ; )
