[Alberg30] Holding tanks

The fittings should be welded, there is no bonding agent, that I know of,
that will adhere to polyethylene. With the fitting simply screwed into the
tank there is the risk of a leak. Believe me, this is one tank you don't
want to leak anywhere. When I made to original measurements for this tank
[Kracor #5057] I did it on my boat #505 that has a liner, figuring that if
it fit a boat with a liner, it would easily fit into a boat without one,
sounds logical, doesn't it? Well as it so happens, the forward cabin plywood
bunk platform is lower in boats without liners by a couple of inches. This
meant that tanks with top-mount fittings for the vent lines were a little
too high, by about 1/2". One solution was to cut an additional piece of
plywood and put it over the existing, another was to cut some small round
holes to let the vents have more room, and the other was to relocate the
vent fittings to the forward wall of the tank as high as possible. This last
one was the neatest 'most factory like' solution. I will post some pictures
of the installation so you can see what's involve with securing the tank. A
picture is ,as they say, worth a thousand words.
