[Alberg30] Leak around rudder post

Anyone have any suggestions on how to stop a leak
around the rudder post.  I can see it leaking (enough
to fill bilges after 4-5 days) but it is difficult to
actually reach the rudder post via the lazarette. 
Would prefer to solve the problem without hauling the
vessel.  Any thoughts or advice would be greatly
appreciated.
