[Alberg30] under sole holding tank

Some years ago I had the same problem with Windrose KC 544 - our A-30. The head chemicals had rotted the aluminium waste input flange. My solution was to use stock Vetus flexible PVC tank (or some kind of plastic) flanges which look identical to a through hull flange.

I ground off the old aluminium pipes flush - inside and out and used liberal amounts of Sikkens 241 (now 291) to bed the flanges and installed them from the inside through the inspection port and then spun the collars on from the outside with more caulk and reinstalled the hose.

The result was no odour and a fully functional system - I also upsized the vent pipe as it is too thin and clogs when the crud gets into it. I used a PVC pipe on the output pumpout side with the pipe going to the bottom with about an inch of space to prevent clogging. It worked great for 6 years until we sold it (1991) and I have heard no complaints from the new owner so it must still be working fine.

The cost was something like $10 - 20.

Hope this is a help.

Have fun - tee hee,

John

The aluminium top of my under sole holding tank is begining to look very weak at the hoses connection points.Has anyone replaced or repaired this tank without re-siting it.
