[Alberg30] Mainsail Reefing and Lazy Jacks

I ordered a set of the retractable EZJAX at the Annapolis Boat Show and they
are being made now. I don't know if I will be able to get them on the boat
before the end of the Chesapeake season, but when I do I will report on
their use to the list. There was a good write-up on such sail-handling
systems in Practical Sailor a few years ago and EZJAX came out well. The
mockup of them that I saw at the show appeared very easy to operate and
minimally intrusive when not in use.

I suppose I or a rigger could have figured out the measurements and
constructed them on our own (after all, it IS only geometry), but I suspect
that there would be a lot of time and trial and error involved and with a
rigger maybe just as many dollars. So I elected to spend a few hundred
dollars from my tax cut check to stimulate the economy by supporting a
sailing business.
