[Alberg30] Deadly gas !

This applies to all forms of carbon combustion. That includes
petroleum products, wood, coal, alcohol, etc. Normally the
carbon is fully oxidized to CO2, carbon dioxide. If the
combustion is less complete (some always is; with a deficiency
of fresh air, more is) it forms CO, carbon monoxide.

It is important to note the mechanism by which CO kills you.
It binds to the hemoglobin in the red blood cells, and bonds
more tightly than either oxygen or carbon dioxide. It is
this hemoglobin that transports the oxygen to various parts
of the body and removes the carbon dioxide. With the
hemoglobin out of commission by carbon monoxide, your
body suffocates EVEN IF THERE IS PLENTY OF FRESH AIR.
Carbon monoxide can kill in low concentrations.
