Hello, I have been tearing up more of the interior of my alberg, Wijnanda. I
have exposed the mast beam, which may not be original, it appears to be two
narrow sheets of 3/4 plywood glassed next to the bulkhead. Could this be
original? could this indicate the age of the hull? I also found that there
was additional ballast added in the form of concrete/gravel in the keel aft
of the bilge sump, there is about a foot between the bottom of the bilge
sump and the top level of the concrete. Where is the waterline on your
stern? I think it would take a very long time to chip out this concrete, I
may do this if the diesel tanks and engine Im installing pull the stern down
too much. Any ideas? was this done on any albergs of a certain year? thanks
Ian MacIntosh
