Joe,

When I replaced the chainplates the bolt size was increased to 5/16". I used
the old chainplates as backer plates. The knees were never reworked and
seemed strong enough to with stand coastal cruising conditions. I also sail
out of the Northeast, hailing from Ipswich, MA

After increasing the chainplate bolt diameter to 5/16, I began to wonder if
I
should have built up the attachment fillet/knees. This after reading in
Practical Sailors review of the A30 that many owners have done this. They
seemed sturdy and without rot; for Northeast coastal cruising, do you think
this is necessary? Your thoughts are appreciated.
