[Alberg30] Thermostat Question

Water comes out of the pump and goes to the starboard side of the
engine block and to the top of the housing. If the engine is cold,
the thermostat blocks the water coming out of the top of the head
and, instead, allows the bypass water from the top of the housing
to flow to the manifold. When the engin is hot, the thermostat
rises up, blocking the bypass water and allowing water to flow
out of the head, thus cooling the engine.

That's the way it's supposed to work. If the housing is
corroded and/or the block and head are full of deposits,
more water will take the bypass route than is desirable.
If there are impeller pieces in the system (and if you
found one there are likely to be others), the how they
affect the system depends on where they are.
