No lights should ever be wired in series:

   +12 -------[light]----------[light]---------- Ground

as that would effectively give 6 volts to each light. When you want
two lights on the same circuit, you should wire them in parallel:

              +------[light]--------+
	      | |
   +12 -------+ +---------- Ground
	      | |
              +------[light]--------+

The anchor light needs to be on it's own switch, as you'll
never want the anchor light on at the same time as the
running lights. In the diagram, the anchor light switch
is the fourth one down.

Yes, if you've still got the lamp cord, you'll save yourself a
lot of grief and aggravation by replacing it. It's actually not
too hard on the A30. The wiring is usually run forward on the bottom
side of the port lockers in the main cabin.

*is* the complete wiring diagram. Keep in mind that Whitby wasn't
always consistent in the way they did things and your boat has had
34 years in the hands of people who may have made changes.

Hope this helps. If you have questions, ask.
