Dear Randy:

It is probably good that you responded to the listserve, as I don't know the
precise answer to your question but others on it will.

I do understand two things.  First, there is slightly less vertical
clearance in the area under the V-berths (where this holding tank would go)
in the pre-no. 411 boats (which do not have hull liners).  So installing
this particular holding tank on those boats requires, at a minimum, some
extra work.

Second, notwithstanding, I have heard that a number of Albergers with the
earlier, unlined boats have been able to use the Kracor tank, of which this
Raritan tank is a near copy (Kracor no longer does custom fitting
installations, which this installation requires).

I expect you will get some responses from the owners of the older boats who
successfully installed the Kracor tank.

The group purchase being facilitated through the A-30 Association on this
listserve is oriented to the boats with the liners.  But all purchasers,
whether they have lined or unlined boats, will buy at their own risk.  So
please make sure that you understand the dimensions and installation
procedures before you buy.

We hope to have a revised drawing of the correct tank dimensions on the A-30
Web site by the middle of this week.

Please forgive the reply format -- I would be interested in one of the tanks
but need to know more details of the problem with older boats (1969) -- can
the fittings be adjusted ? --and what exactly is the interference problem?

Just to bring everyone up to date on the status of this, as of 5:30 today
the persons who have contacted me to indicate an interest in the group buy
of Raritan holding tanks ($176 less group discount quoted at 40% for five or
more buys) are:

Neal Jackson
George Dinwiddie
Stephen Sousa
Rob Alley
Ralph Reitz
Michael Lonsdale
John Willis
Brian Higley

We expect by the early part of next week to have resolved a few remaining
issues on the configuration of this tank and be in a position to move
forward with the orders.  So it would be great if anyone that is interested
could decide by then.  The arrangements will be directly between the buyer
and Raritan...we have merely been working as facilitators.  It will take a
few weeks after that for them to be finished and shipped.

Thanks to the expertise of Mark Peters ("JOCELYN"), who was gracious enough 
to not only tap new bolt holes in my mast step, but also give clear 
instructions, as well as hands on practice for me in the process, "One Love"

is ready for the summer sailing season.  I believe Mark has some photos to 
share detailing the job.  Thanks to all who gave advice, and especially
Mark; 
not only is the Alberg the best boat in my opinion, but the Alberg people
