The problem on the older (non-liner) boats is that the plywood in the
forward cabin is a couple of inches lower than on the plywood on the newer
(linered) boats. This presented a minor problem with the vents on forward
part of the tank because there was not sufficient cleearance. The
interference was only about 1/4", so what most owners did was to cut a hole
in the existing plywood to allow clearance for the vent elbows and the add
an addtional layer of plywood on top of the existing.

Please forgive the reply format -- I would be interested in one of the tanks
but need to know more details of the problem with older boats (1969) -- can
the fittings be adjusted ? --and what exactly is the interference problem?
Thanks for all the info - I look forward to the digest every day.

Just to bring everyone up to date on the status of this, as of 5:30 today
the persons who have contacted me to indicate an interest in the group buy
of Raritan holding tanks ($176 less group discount quoted at 40% for five or
more buys) are:
Neal Jackson
George Dinwiddie
Stephen Sousa
Rob Alley
Ralph Reitz
Michael Lonsdale
John Willis
Brian Higley
We expect by the early part of next week to have resolved a few remaining
issues on the configuration of this tank and be in a position to move
forward with the orders. So it would be great if anyone that is interested
could decide by then. The arrangements will be directly between the buyer
and Raritan...we have merely been working as facilitators. It will take a
few weeks after that for them to be finished and shipped.

Thanks to the expertise of Mark Peters ("JOCELYN"), who was gracious enough
to not only tap new bolt holes in my mast step, but also give clear
instructions, as well as hands on practice for me in the process, "One Love"
is ready for the summer sailing season. I believe Mark has some photos to
share detailing the job. Thanks to all who gave advice, and especially
Mark;
not only is the Alberg the best boat in my opinion, but the Alberg people
are
the best!

Good news, Joe. If Mark would like, I'd be glad to post the photos on
the web site. Perhaps the two of you would like to write up a small
description of the process to go with the photos, for both the web site
and the newsletter.
