If you get the direct reading dial instead of the flat card, then
you've got an HV-77 rather than an HV-76.  At least, that's the 
way I read Ritchie's specs.

As noted in another message, a direct reading compass means the
compass works "backwards" if you're used to a flat card.  The
Ritchie Navigator BN-202 has both, as well as a larger dial
(4-1/2" rather than 3-3/4") but is also larger and more expensive.
