[Alberg30] Cockpit sole hatches? + Read Raban

Greetings, again, oh Towers of Power,

Another query here-- has anyone installed the plastic hatches in their
cockpit floors in order to achieve somewhat easier access to the internal
works of said A30 vessels?

I've seen one of the sturdy aluminum ones (Henry's, round) and it is a
hearty piece o' work indeed. However, the plastic versions (rectangluar,
rounded corners, with fastenting latches and claims of "weather proof!") are
more readily available. They're around $40-60 for ones about 1 x 1.5 feet.

What I wonder is if they're sturdy enough to withstand the dancing of
tipsy sailors, stumbling skippers, and/or sickly crew kneeling suddenly in
prayer upon the sole.

    Thoughts?

PS Reading Jonathan Raban's book "Coasting" in which he describes
circumnavigating the UK some years back. He's a terrific writer who also
more recently produced "Passage to Juneau" about a solo sail from our neck
of the woods and north (Seattle to Juneau). Very fine reading.
