We probably get colder weather up here in Long Island than in the
Chesapeake. The normal procedure here is to cover the boat. One year I
did not do it and water got into the boat, apparently through stern
vents. Anyway, there was a significant amount of water in the bilge
when I checked it and it had frozen solid. I didn't see any way to thaw
it out. Fortunately when it finally thawed there was no damage, but I
was visualizing the bilge being pushed apart by the ice.
