Thanks to all who responded to my question about lazy jacks for my A30. I
purchased a kit at the Annapolis Sailboat Show last weekend and now need to
do the installation. My next question is about using a bosun's chair to get
up the mast. I have not used one before and need guidance on this. I have
seen drawings in several books the give me the general idea, but I don't know
if there is a preferred way to rig up the chair on the A30. I have a
wire/rope main halyard and don't know if this presents any sort of safety
concerns. I read in one book that a halyard of this type may not be suitable
because of potential weakness in the wire and rope splice. Any thoughts here?
Also, I need to know which winch to use: small main halyard winch on the
cabin top (my lines are run aft to the cockpit) or large Genoa winch along
side of cockpit. I weigh about 210lbs. I'm thinking I need to run the halyard
through a jibsheet block and then to the large winch. Any help on this would
be greatly appreciated.

Fair Winds,

Buddy Franklin
