[Alberg30] Bosuns Chair

Buddy,

When I have to go up the mast with only one person helping I tie a line
to the bosun's chair, run it around the mast three/four time and tie it
back to the bosun's chair. There has to be enough slack in the turns
around the mast to get by the steaming light and of course you will have
to unattached and reattach at the spreaders. If the halyard you are
going up on happens to break the turns around the mast will stop you
from falling more than 2 to 3 feet. I was told by someone who used this
when the halyard broke that he got slammed into the mast but did not
fall. He said the next time he would not have as much slack in the
lines around the mast.

About your lazy jacks. I went to the boat show and did not see anyone
selling lazy jacks. Could you send me the name/addrss/phone no. of the
source of your lazy jack? Would appreciate it.

		Have a happy

		Pat
