My jib halyard has a fixed-eye snap shackle. The halyard is wire/rope,
so creating an attachment point using any kind of knot would ruin the
halyard. The thimble attaching the wire to the snap shackle is too
small to pass a rope or screw shackle of sufficient size. Therefore,
I put the screw shackle through the eye of the snap shackle, effectively
turning it into a link of chain.
