[Alberg30] Wood for Spreaders

Hello, Happy Easter,

Quick question for those that have done it,

what would be the preferred wood to use for replacing spreaders?

I was thinking about Sickta(sp?) Spruce being light & strong but also need
to comply with class rules, getting ready for the NOOD here in annapolis.

Even thought of wrapping in Fiberglass with Kevlar or carbon. Any thoughts
are much appreciated.
