Roger,

I like your replacement for the icebox, can you supply the manufacturer or
how you modified the box?

Thanks,
Stephen

Subject: [Alberg30] Photos of Booth Mock Up

For anyone interested in photos of my idea for a booth, they can be found at
the link below. I tried the slick video technology I mentioned yesterday
but, of course, it didn't work; so, the "old," still digital is the fall
back. Please forgive the carpentry, it was an AMO (available materials
only) project; I think I only used 12 nails.

I used me as the ergonomic model, A) because it's my boat; and, B) because,
although only 6', I have a long torso so I can represent tall people when
seated. The "fit" is pretty good. The width and depth of the table and
chairs are generous. The vertical clearances are OK but the height of the
seat (measured from compressed [that would be by the butt] cushion) ideally
should be 2" to 3" higher (at 18" for eating) and the table 12" above the
seat (it is shown at about 10-1/2").

Controlling dimension turns out to be shoulder clearance; height from seat
underside of the side deck. This dimension is a little tight (but not
unworkable, especially for those under 6'). The solution would be to lower
the current plywood bunk base by about 3' to 4". This would require
converting the outboard edge of the current bunk base joint at the hull into
a stringer (w/ about a 4' horizontal.. dim. I would guess). The added
advantage of a full length stringer is the opportunity to eliminate the bunk
base under the seats and have greater contiguous storage areas (cooler,
silverware drawer, microwave, tanks, trash, bad children).

It would be feasible to add a table leaf over the cabin sole so 2 more
people could sit on stools the same height as the new seats. We have some
fold up bar type chairs from IKEA w/ backrests that might not take up too
much room in the hanging locker. An alternative would be to elevate the
other bunk to the same height and use it for overflow dining; or, fold up
seats at the side of the new seats; or, slide out seats supported by open
doors underneath; or swings mounted to the ceiling (only in port); or, just
tell everyone else to eat in the cockpit.

Your thoughts, feedback, criticism are welcome.
