[Alberg30] Zinc Anode location

Hmm...interesting...please continue to educate me: the engine comes with a 
zinc which the manual advises should be replaced periodically--what's this 
protecting, then? I'd somehow come to associate zincs with the 'siphoning' 
away of minute amounts of electric current and thought, since the shaft was 
a conductor, it might not matter where on the shaft the zinc was located.
