[Alberg30] shaft packing?

Fellow Albergers,

I remember reading on the list (I think) that the size packing for our
Alberg 30's is 3/16. 

I measured the inside of the packing gland and it is 1 and 3/8. The
shaft is 7/8. I would have thought this would call for 1/4 inch packing.

Has anyone replaced their packing recently and do they recall what size
they used?

I am using the drip less moldable packing but it does call for regular
packing on both sides of the expensive green stuff.
