  Many years ago I re-installed the wiring panel and carefully soldered
the connections. Did a good job, too, using rosin core solder.
Unfortunately, on a boat you get enough motion that the stiff
solder-covered portions of the wire end tended to fail through fatigue.
And even rosin flux seemed to attract corrosion, or at least moisture.
So now I crimp my connections. They have lasted about nine years so far.
ALWAYS use stranded marine-grade wire.
