If you haven't bought a new steaming/deck I can tell you that Forespar makes 
a really good combination light. The nice thing about the deck portion of 
the light is that the cockpit is shielded from the glare by the mast, unlike 
the headlights that were originally mounted on the spreaders. I does a good 
job of illuminating the deck and for those who are interested in reducing 
weight aloft, this fixture is lighter.

In my opinion, 12 gauge would be too heavy. I would use 16 gauge, stranded,
not solid, due to vibration. If using 2-conductor wire (not 3), white is
positive, black is negative. Are you running new wires to the steaming/deck
lights?
