When I bought PEREGRINE, there was a row of hook-and-loop tape (loop side
only) attached to the inside of the companionway hatch (horizontal top and
vertical rear) and around the inside of the forward hatch.  I then found two
pieces of nylon screen, each congruent with one of the hatches, but with the
hook side, and voila!, it became evident what it all was for.  

It was quite nifty and seemed as though it would work, but I never had such
a bug problem that I had to use it and when the board was redone I canned
the stuff.

after reading all the posts re: diesel vs. gas, i find as a novice i have a
question. george and others who have gas setups, should there be any smell
of gasoline,say after your boat has been idle for at least a weak, or is it
time for me to replace my fuel tank. i had not been on rascal for at least a
month and there was a faint gas smell in the cabin as well as the locker
where the tank is.

my other question is a little less volatile. i vaguely remember an old issue
of good old boat mag having a page by an alberger describing a companionway
mosquito net setup. of course i cannot find the issue and am curious if
others use that setup, or if there is another design that people use that is
even better. oh, and of course, how do i configure the netting.
