[Alberg30] fuel tank vent

I have a 8 gal gas tank in the starboard locker and the old vent is a u 
shaped copper tube on the starboard coming.  I have a water problem as 
the vent fills with water after a heavy rain.  Has anyone fitted a 
proper vent and where do you install the vent and the loop? Also what 
is the best fuel water separator?
