466 also has that sand like material under the "bilge skin". I guess it was 
used as a filler. To the best of my knowledge, Albergs are two half hulls 
fiberglassed together from the inside. Then an iron ballast is lowered into 
the bilge and that sand like material was used to fill in between the gaps 
and the aft end of the keel. Then a skin is glassed above it.

On the outside another type of filler material is used on the seam which 
can get brittle and develop cracks over time.
