[Alberg30] fuel tank

I am replacing my atomic four with a diesel and am planning to use the 
original monel sp? gas tank.   Last summer I removed the fuel gage that is 
in the top of the tank.  The cork had disintegrated and was floating in the 
gas.  So I hack sawed off the entire float mechanism.  I now just have a 
piece of tape marking full on an old fishing pole that I stick down into the 
tank from the deck fill.  According to my calculations the diesel conversion 
will almost double my range so I believe the original tank size to be 
adequate.  I would spend the money on a bronze fuel filter instead.  Also, 
when screwing the top back on the tank I covered the threads with some pipe 
dope.
