I suggest you contact Yves Galinas who has sailed his A30 Jean du Sud all
over the world including a one stop circumnavigation.  You'll find him via
his business - Cap Horn self-steering,  on the web.  He describes some of
his modifications in the site - and would likely answer specific questions.
