What you want to look out for is water infiltration into the balsa core. 
  You can tap on the deck with a quarter to find delaminated spots--the 
sound is different.  Not all delaminated spots are wet; Whitby was 
sometimes not as thorough with the resin in the later boats.  Dry 
delamination, especially in small areas, isn't much of a problem, though 
you can fix it by injecting epoxy if you want.  Wet core is a bigger
