For flex coupling there are also the type that bolt in between your existing flanges.  A couple examples are in:
Defender p 171 and West p 253.  these may require shortning the shaft, but allow you to use the flanges that came with the engine.   When I repowered #240 I used this type coupler and am quite happy with it.  I wish my current boat had something as simple.  On #240 I used a 13x13 three blade prop with the Yanmar 2GM.
