Hello all - this is not Alberg material, but I am selling my boat, a
24 Challenger (Alex McGruer design) and hope that one of you has a
friend who would like a nice entry level cruiser. While not of the
calibre of the Alberg, it is still a fine boat and a good coastal
cruiser. Sister ships have gone from the Great Lakes to the Honduras,
which is a pretty respectable cruise! One fellow single handed his
from Toronto to Miami and back a few years ago. These boats were
designed to be a charter boat in Nova Scotia according to McGruer's
son, who still lives in Newfoundland.
I have circumnavigated Georgian Bay in mine and found she handled
everything the bay could throw at her. She likes a breeze and has
averaged six knots over three hours in six foot following seas with a
reefed main - and towing a dinghy!
She comfortably sleeps four, has a proper galley, redesigned icebox,
head and new holding tank (don't ask)...the sails are in good
condition (main and working jib) and the spinnaker has never been
used, at least by me.
I am asking $7800 and can be reached at wmoran at look.ca
Alas, I am not moving up to an Alberg 30. Much as I would like to,
the boats price has risen too quickly for me.
Also, I need a roomier boat as I have other plans which the Alberg
would not fulfill. I'm getting a Dufour 34, mid 70s boat.
I still plan to lurk on this board though if you'll continue to have
me, as the information and education I get from it are unequalled
anywhere else. And I'll still sail on anyone's Alberg who sees fit to
invite me, and I'll bring the beer.

Wally

p.s. Laszlo, you there?
