Why is Nothing easy!!!!!

When I got the propshaft/stern tube assembly back in, I found I had to
deflect the shaft about 1/8 inch + up and to stbd to get the shaft into the
shaft/engine coupling. This seemed like alot. Silly to ask if this is too
much to leave, I assume. I banged the shaft completely into the coupling,
then disconnected the coupling from the engine so as not to deform the
cutlass bearing until I figured out what I had to do.

What is the best method to align the engine and shaft on our boats?

Thx,
Lee
