[Alberg30] Thru Hulls

Dick,

Many larger boats use a "water box" for all intake thru hull fittings. 
There is no boat I know of that tries to "T" all exaust/drainage thru
hull fittings.  I have seen a deck scupper drain "T" into the cockpit
drain thru hull fitting.

The cockpit drain could not be "Ted" into the engine intake as no water
will pass by the engine raw water pump; therefore, the water would back
up in
the cockpit drains and fill the cockpit with water.

One point of failure on the older boats was the engine intake.  This
thru hull fitting was "home made" by Whitby and they do FAIL.  Someone
else will have to tell you if hull No. 302 has a proper engine thru hull
or not.  

Do I think it would be a good idea to combine thru hull fittings where
possible?
No, they have worked fine for forty years and if it isn't broken don't
fix it.
