[Alberg30] Lowering mast from deck

Albergers (potato salad is OK to)

I checked out http://www.caphorn.com/CadreAnglais.htm for the mast stepping
system and two things are unclear to my often foggy brain. Does Yves'
solution involve actually cutting the main shrouds to add the pin hinge that
aligns with the mast step hinge? And, is it not necessary to hold the
shroud hinge (the juncture between the main shroud and the spinnaker pole
shroud) point in place (or is it OK to have it "float" because it will find
the hinge point as the mast is raised?

Feedback accepted with gratitude.

Confused as usual, in Pittsburgh
