Thanks Michael,

I recall seeing something like that (that I thought was just some dufis
scratching the hull) and will look more closely.  I recall, with the current
boot stripe, the entire stripet was out of the water with more bottom paint
showing forward (which I thought looked pretty good).  Given the volume of
stuff I took out of the aft lockers (enough oil for at least 5 oil changes,
3 cased of bottles and cans, assorted non-matching fenders, an old couch,
three tricycles; wait, I think I might be commingling with the time I
cleaned out the garage), it wouldn't surprise me if the stripe was
originally parallel to the water.
