[Public-list] thru hulls

as a firm believer in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". , i violated that rule after three years of hearing REPLACE THE GATE VALVES.
so, it was midnight and dark and as i turn a gate valve with my handy dandy pipe wrench, and notice the thru hull turning. in the dark it doesn't appear broken, but would this be a candidate for the whitby do it yourself thru hull fitting that all advise to replace?
