[Public-list] thru hulls and seacocks and ball valves

well i went to my local handy dandy west store and the chap says i shold not put in ball valves, i should put in seacocks. everybody agree and think this is necessary?
also dont seem to carry half inch seacocks. only three quarte so i would need to change all the half inch thru hulls to 3 quartetr.
