Yes - that is the short answer. You will remove the bolts, jack up the beam, 
then replace the bolts with larger 5/16" that are not threaded all the way 
to the head. Use the same holes.

I am in the process of installing the two aluminum plates to sister the main
laminated wooden beam in Delphi.  Is it necessary or desirable to remove the
existing bolts between the bulkhead and the beam before, or during, jacking
up the beam and installing the plates?
