Hi Randy.....
About your cutlass bearing.....check the distance you have between the 
housing and your prop. If you have some spare space like (1 or 1-1/2 inch) 
then leave the bearing bushing long....this gives you more bearing surface. 
I did the job myself and I left the bearing sticking out of the housing 
quite a bit. Have not had any problems.Make sure you drill 2 water cooling 
holes into the bearing. I also took a Dremel grinder and opened and cleaned 
the 2 water inlet ports before pushing the bearing into the housing.
My old brain is starting to slip but, I think you can drill the water holes 
into the bearing right through the housing. I had the housing and the pipe 
completely out and I even epoxyd the old holes full and retapped the 2 
bolts holes.If you want more detailed information then let me know. There 
is also a cross section drawing of the whole back end with 
details.shaft,bearing and stuffing box available. I can mail you one.
