Bill,

I used Delrin as the spacer for the track, any good plastics supplier can
provide the Delrin, there will be a cut charge involved. I have a small
piece left over which I could use to provide measurements.

Subject: [Public-list] Toe rail

We have had a ton of rain in Charleston in the last few weeks and to my
regret I found that my port cushions are wet in both the v-berth and the
cabin. I have checked everything and suspect that the leak is in the Toe
Rail. It is original and has never been finished or sealed. I was thinking
of taking it completely off and finishing it with cetol.
My questions are: 1, If I take it off, will I loose the bend in the wood? 2,
Do I need to anything to the deck joint? 3, I read some time ago that I
should use delrin (sp) as the spacer for the stainless track. Where do I get
that and exactly what do I purchase? 4, When I reinstall, do I use a sealant
on the entire rail or just at the screws.

This is a big project but one that I think needs to be done.

Any advise is appreciate.
